The Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Division apprehended Tyler Dakota Masonius, 30, and Subhi Aburami, 27, on March 12, in two unrelated cases, according to Passaic County Sheriff Thomas Adamo.
Authorities in Pike County, Pennsylvania requested assistance in locating Masonius, who was wanted for aggravated assault and attempted bodily injury with a deadly weapon, Adamo said.
After an extensive investigation, detectives identified a possible location for Masonius in Passaic County. Officers took him into custody without incident, Adamo said.
Masonius was charged as a fugitive from justice and is currently awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania, authorities said.
Detectives also tracked down Aburami, a fugitive wanted for first-degree carjacking with a brass-knuckle-type knife, Adamo said.
Aburami was also implicated in stealing an express bus, which was equipped with surveillance cameras that further incriminated him, authorities said.
Sheriff’s officers located Aburami at 212 Overmount Ave. in Woodland Park. Upon entering the home, detectives found him trying to evade capture, but he was taken into custody without further resistance, Adamo said.
Aburami now faces an additional charge for hindering apprehension, authorities said.
“These arrests highlight the collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and the dedication of the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Warrant Division in tracking down wanted individuals,” Adamo said.
